99 accord v6. I took off the EGR valve to clean any carbon build-up under it. The "sucking" port has what found to be a small passage leading back into... well, wherever it goes. I could get a wire coathanger into the passage, kind of at a 45 degree angle from straight back, toward the passenger side....is it supposed to be bigger? Am I looking at actual carbon build-up, and thinking that's part of the metal? Thanks!
the egr tube is usually replaced because it can't be cleaned effectively. the passages are bigger than a hanger; more like the diamter of your pinky finger for the egr tube. honda had a service bulletin on the replacement of the EGR valve and tube on the V-6 because of the carbon plugging the passages. if you want a scan of the procedure then send me an email by clicking on the icon to the left of this answer and then selecting email from the upper right. be sure to include your real email address in your note so I have a place to send the pdf file to. doing it that way keeps your email address and mine out of the searchable Yahoo answers datatbase. you need to do it that way because Yahoo Answers will not allow the attachment of a file to an answer.
