Catalytic Converter Bypass

Catalytic Converter Bypass
88 CRX hi flo cat or bypass altogether?

I have an '88 CRX and it still has the stock catalytic converter attached (probably the same one from back in the 80's when it was made...). It has a 3" pipe catback exhaust and I'm thinking this itty bitty, (probably clogged) cat is choking the airflow. Should I get a High Flow Cat, or just attach a straight pipe where the cat should be? I'm not concerned about emissions at the moment.
High Flow Catalytic converter Vs. Test Pipe basically.
The motor is SOHC D15, soon to be DOHC B16.

If it's replace with straigh pipe, the engine check sensor will triggered and the engine will run on default mode.
A high flow cat, as long it's filtering similar or even better then stock, why not?
A standard cat will just plug and play.

A clogged cat will signed by poor acceleration, smell of rotten egg, and unsmooth exhaust.
