if i remove the catalytic converter from my golf gti mkv does the check engine alarm will appear ?
If it is an OBDII vehicle then yes, that's why you have upstream and downstream 02 sensors, the downstream ones (post catalytic) monitor catalytic efficiency and if it's toggling as fast as the front one as it would without a converter there then it'll set a catalyst efficiency code and turn on the check engine light
