I know there are 3 del sol models. I think S, Si, and Vtec. S and Si have D series SOHC motors, the vtec is the only one with a B series DOHC in it, B16 or B18, i'm not sure, but I know the highest end models is a B. Lets say I found an S or an Si and wanted to do a B18 swap on it, how hard would it be? What would I need, new engine mounts? If I can find a Vtec, I'd keep the B series it came with unless its high milege. If so, my b18 swap would go right in anyway. Just wanted to know what the deal is with putting a B series into the models that came stock with a D?
Sohc? The b18 I have in it now is Dohc, I didn't know they made single overhead B motors. And 140 is ok, but for a little more, I can get a low milage GSR swap (180+ hp) so its worth 40 more horses for a little money. And If I'm lucky and I get a JDM gsr swap, thats more horsepower.
The DelSol is a civic chassis setup. As such, all the Civic information should apply. The B18 is a very common swap on the civic and very well documented on the web. HASPORT has a lot of information on these "hybrid" swaps.
As you note, I'd leave the vtec model alone. The sohc models would be a good swap to the Integra 140 hp, B18. The Integra GS-R motor (VTEC) is far more expensive and for my money not worth the extra. I'd rather take the extra money and supercharge the LS motor. It would make for a torquer motor and more "street" power.
