Dual Turbo Headers

What transmission should I use?
I have a 1979 GMC c-15 2wd street truck. It has a 4-bolt main 350 with edelbrock EPS intake, Demon 625 cfm 4-barrel carb, Headers, and soon a Comp Cams thumpr cam and 2.02 heads. I also have 2.25 dual exhaust with dumps. Right know with open headers I have around 320 horsepower and about 312 with full exhaust. The downside is that I have a muncie 465 truck transmission (4-speed) and I want to convert it to a turbo 400 or 700r4 tranny. They both will be performance trannys with new valve bodies for manual ratchet shifting and a shift kit. Which transmission would be better?
The turbo 400 is unnecessary with the horsepower you will produce. It will steal some of your horsepower due to the weight and the rotating mass. 700R4 would be perfect these trannies are good up to about 500hp without modifications. This is why drag cars run 2 speed power glide trannies, they are light and durable.the 700r4 will get you a little better acceleration due to the gearing as well. Especially since this is a street truck. You will like the 700r4 better. I have a nova with a 550hp big block in it and I am running a beefed up TCI t350 with a 3000 stall converter. I run it on the track, hard runs And I have never had a problem.
