Vented gas cap on a 1975 ford truck?
Alrighty people, I have a 1975 ford truck with an in cab gas tank. This truck does not have the charcoal canister or emissions control system. The gas tank is the non vented type. Anyways, I've been having problems with too much pressure in the gas tank. This causes fuel to leak out of the lines in the engine and it causes flooding of the carb. I have replaced the fuel pump so I know the pump is not the issue and the hoses are new too. I believe I'm using a non-vented gas cap right now.
My question: Should I use a vented gas cap? I'm not sure what the original cap was, and I'm not sure what a vented gas cap is either.
Ok that didn't answer my question. Do I need a vented gas cap or a non-vented gas cap? I have no idea which one to buy or how a vented gas cap works. Looking online, the caps I see say they are vented and they also have vacuum. I thought I don't want vacuum because it could implode the gas tank.
Vented caps are available at any parts store. Get one.
