what are some good mods for a 95 volkswagen golf mk3?
i dont want crazy body kits and huge exhaust tips, i think all that is too flashy. anything to make the car a little faster besides a cold air intake, cosmetic stuff?
It depends on budget.
Since the '95 Golf only came with the 8V 2.0L engine (To get the VR6 you had to get the GTI), there arent many mods available for that car.
For a cheap (reasonable) upgrade, replace the exhaust, the intake with a K & N cone filter and chip it. It will add modest power, but is affordable. ($100-500 each)
Next step up; engine mods. There are more agressive cams for around $300, and turbo or supercharger kits get into the thousands. All of these things require you to partially disassemble the engine and to have decent mechanical skill. Not for the faint of heart. The same can be said for engine swaps. The 1.8T and VR6 engine fit under your hood quite nicely, but require work and $ to make them retrofit.
In my opinion, it's not worth it to put thousands of dollars into that car. For that kind of money you could flat out buy a used Golf or Jetta with a 1.8t that already outperforms most mods you could do to the '95.
