Exhaust Wireless Control

Exhaust Wireless Control
How do I access the admistrator account using Vista Home Premium Edition.?

I need to get to the administrator account, which is by default hidden, in Vista. I have tried by using the cmd >cd prompt but get a message that with vista home premium I must use the User Accounts in the Control Panel-but I can't get to it that way. I put net user administrator ACTIVE:yes prompt in the DOS window and am given a message that there is a system 5 error.Access denied.

All that I am trying to do is connect to the internet from within a program such as registering a program or accessing the help menu.

I hope somebody will help me. I have exhausted all my other means of assistance and certainly my own knowledge.

I have a wireless connection and have no problems accessing sites directly through IE or Firefox, but am unable to connect from within a program-or even during web activities such as downloading the coupon printer-I can download it but when it comes time to register it am told that I have no internet connection.

Thanks.

I have Vista Business here, but I'll try to give you an answer.

Open Start, Control Panel, User Accounts. Look for a link called Turn User Account Control on or off. Turn it off and reboot. Vista will nag you about the perils of disabling UAC and blah blah blah, but it simply returns the computer to the state it would have if you were running XP or 2000, for the most part. If you can't do even this, then the account you're working from has no adminstrative rights, and that's a bad thing. How did it come configured?

Once you have disabled UAC, you will have more freedom to move around with the settings. Returning to the User Accounts applet, look for the link to Manage User Accounts. Go to the Advanced tab, click the Advanced... button, and you should see a dialog called Local Users and Groups. Open the Users folder and to the right, you should see a link to the Administrator account. Right-click it to bring up its Properties.

The first thing you'll probably have to do is set a password for it. Once you have done that, you should be able to enable it. However, with UAC turned off, you should have administrative rights from the account you are already using, so you may not need the Administrator account at all.

There is more information in this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555910/en-us - however, from your question, you may have already seen it.
