chevy header bolts which size is right?
im putting headers on a chevy 350. im looking at a locking header bolt kit. two came up for my truck. one has underhead length 1 inch and the other is .75 inch. which is better. im thinking .75 inch might be to short. but also thinking 1inch may be to long. if anyone has put headers on a chevy let me know what size you used. thanks.
the only bolt needed to be a 1/4 longer then the rest would be the one in front drivers side which goes through the alternator bracket. nice to be remembered that longer bolts can be shortened.
these headers by the way are old school Napa headers from the late 80's and will fit up to late 90's before chevy changed motor bolt locations.
Depends on a couple things. First what if any accessories will need to share the mounting holes(alternator bracket, a/c brackets, .etc). What size header flanges are you using? Different manufacturers use different flanges on different model headers. Keep in mind, long bolts can be shortened. Short ones can't be lengthened.
