how much horsepower does my 302 have?
I have a 302 that was fully rebuilt with forged flat top pistons,gt-40p heads(not ported),crane 1.7 roller rockers,speed pro cam(224* at .050 dur.,466" lift,110* centerline),edelbrock performer rpm,570cfm holley street avenger carb,pertronix flame thrower hei distributor,svo 9mm wires,1 5/8" shorties,off road h-pipe,pypes violator mufflers,march performance pulleys,electric fan.the engine runs great,idle is nice and lumpy,car pulls real hard,it's backed by a c-4 with a 3000rpm stall and 4.10 posi in a 79 mustang.just wanted some opinions on my estimated horsepower as there is no dyno's near my home and haven't found anybody that wants to try me,tks
i always gas up with 94 octane gas.
i have a calculated 10.2:1 compression
Probably 300-330hp at the flywheel depending what octane gas you use and where the timing is set. I have a built 289 in a '66 Stang with a little more cam and much better AFR aluminum heads(much better airflow than the Ford GT-40 heads) and I make about 360hp on 92 octane. You lose about 20% hp when measuring at the rear wheels. So 250hp at the rear wheels is probably more realistic.
