TRAILER DISC BRAKE PROBLEM?

I just installed a pair of Kodiak disc brakes on my trailer, and was putting in the brake tubing. Everything was going great.... Until my neighbor came over and noticed that there was a serious problem. The two bolts that come from the pads are sitting too close to the trailer railing. He mentioned that any bump would have broke them off, and caused major damage. He is a welder and said there would be no problem extending the axle so there is clearance for the bolts. Might try turning the back plate sideways, but this probably won't work either. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this problem before? Thanks.

I had the same problem and we had to extend the axles as well.
