Rod Headers Sbf

302 sbf problems with performance?

I have a 72' 302 that ive been working with for a little bit. I have the motor in a 67' f100 longbed auto.
Im just trying to get the 302 to be able to turn over a posi-rearend. so for im not having any luck with that. Its mostly stock besides accel plugs and wires, long tube headers going into dual exhaust, dual plane intake with edelbrock 600cfm carb. I think the carb is too big but if I change the metering rods, it should help. What do you recommend? I dont have a ton of money right now, what else can I do to get enough power?

72 302 is good motor , the heads (with the 13/16 spark plugs) have bigger valves than than later models
67 f 100 probably has a 3.00 : 1 rear end. you will need a 3.55 or 3.73 or even 4.10 to have fun with the stock motor.

P.S. your rear is a tractionloc not a positraction
and trade the edelpuke carb for a holly 4160 a.s.a.p.
