When should I think about taking out my nose piercing?
I have had my nose pierced for almost 4 months, it was doing ok for awhile, mild infection, then it was fine, i changed it in and out and didnt even bother it.
Now all the sudden, its swollen, red and kinda bleeding (not bad).
It also had some yellow stuff come out, but not alot.
There is a small bump by it, kinda red.
It may be a small zit but im not sure.
I put a little bit of hydrogen peroxide to see where the infection was coming from and I soaked it in salt that the tattoo shop gave me.
The bar was complicated to get in, and that is strange cuz im used to it being easy.
The only bars i use are surgical steel, and i only use the ones that the piercer gives me
When is too infected?
You're probably at the point. By the time pus is leaking out of a hole in your skin, it's time to take action. MRSA, a multidrug resistant bacteria lives in many noses. It would love an opportunity to infect a ready-made skin break. Yours would not be the first (or second or third) nose ring I've seen become infected in this way, despite how clean you've kept it.
I'd recommend having a physician look at this unless it is really minimal. You may need antibiotics, or at least a prescription antibiotic ointment.
