Best one for me was a 1986 Toyota Camry. Extremely comfortable, economical, and reliable.
Worst was a 1990 Ford Econoline E150 conversion van. Only thing good about it was that it was extremely comfortable. It was a maintenance nightmare, though. You couldn't drive it 2000 miles without some major problem developing. Problems started when it was a little less than two years old --- I remember the blower motor stopped running, and the dealer couldn't repair it for four days. Transmission quit at 3 yrs/48,000 miles. A faulty in-tank fuel pump left us stranded in the cornfields of Illinois at about 62,000 miles. I could go on and on.
My daughter is starting to look for her first car....trading in her '99 Saturn, which I bought for her seven years ago. The Saturn has been a reasonable car, but it hasn't been outstanding, I would say.
I'm just kind of wondering if there's anything you would tell her to stay away from or to really look favorably on.
My worst car was a Dodge Shadow. I never even got to drive the car. I took a friend with me in my truck to pick the car up and have him drive it to my house for me. The P.O.S. made it to my house but smoked the computer on the way. The Dodge dealer wanted $450.00 to rebuild the computer and said they would not guarantee that the computer would work after the rebuild. The car had 21,000 miles on it when I bought it and had that many when I took it to the scrap yard. The best car I ever had was a 1983 Chevy Citation. It was ugly and not a cool car but the thing would not stop running. I drove that car till it had over 365,000 miles on it and it still ran like new when I wrecked it. I never had to do anything to that car except normal service stuff. If i could find another one like that I would love to have it now. Hope I have been helpful.
