1993 Dodge Dakota Please Help!
I own a 1993 Dodge Dakota with 3.9l V6 engine with about 150,000 miles on it. A few days ago my check engine light came on and my truck idles erratically and the throttle body is making a hissing gasping noise every time I push on the gas. The engine isn't running smooth and my brake pedal is very hard when I push on it. So far I believe my truck has a vacuum leak so I check all my hoses and could not find a leak. I changed the EGR valve, sparks plugs, bought a new throttle body gasket, and a IAC motor , but none of those new parts worked.
Problem- truck idles erratically and the brake pedal got very hard. What is the problem or what should I check?
Check for an intake manifold vacuum leak.
EDIT: Disconnect and plug the brake booster hose. If the engine still runs poorly, it's not the brake booster. (Don't drive the truck with the hose disconnected.) An intake manifold leak would cause poor intake vacuum and not enough vacuum to operate the brake booster properly.
