compressor surge, does it damage the turbo?
before you awnser i know what compressor surge or waste gate chatter as many call it is, what i do want to know, having a turbo system set up with no bov/dump valve or a small one that cant get rid of pressure fast enoth, so causes boost to flow back out the inlet.
now will this damage the turbo short or long term, and i ask because many have said it does but rally cars aren't allowed bov/dump valves and is the best place to hear compressor surge and it dosnt effect them and its yet to be proven bov even help

To much boost pressure will eventually blow either big ends and damage the rings or snap a rod.Its the same as raising the compresion ratio.Thats why turbo engines have lower comp ratio than naturaly aspirated motors
