Turbo Plumbing Lingo...?
Just trying to figure out what a all the dump pipes etc are, so could you please tell me what the following parts are called:
1. The pipe that flows exhaust from the turbine
2. The pipe that flows exhaust from an external wastegate back to the exhaust pipe
3. The pipe that diverts air from a bypass valve back in to the intake
any other tips would be appreciated
header/manifold carries exhaust to the turbo to spin it.
cold side plumbing goes from turbo's outlet to engines intake to move the air under pressure (boost) to engine
The blow off valve is placed in the cold side pipe between turbo and intake
Air filter it placed on front of turbo.
External wastegate is placed in the header or pipe from header/mainfold to turbo
down pipe is placed on waste gate to dump the exhaust out
Oil supply line runs from engine to turbo, oil return line runs from turbo to engine's oil pan
